Pfosten

thats the entrance to the temple.. extensive carving all over the doorway... if you zoom into the pic you'll be able to appreciate it better..

exquisite carving of lord shiva, on a pillar.. again flash is the culprit.. but without it couldnt get a proper image.. the reason a lot of the statue looks dull off white is because of reflection of the flash.. so you can imagine just how shiny the soapstone pillar really is..

21 ft if you can believe..

Hampi

the main temple at Hampi.. Krishnadevaraya sure knew how to build temples.. the Gopuram in the back is in Dravidian style and the one in the foreground is some other( sheesh, one year and i've forgotten quite a lot) nice pic huh??

Seen these somewhere??

athanda ithanda arunachalam nanthanda! same place!

Pillars!

the pillars in the halebed & belur temples were just outa the world!! the work on them were excellent. i'm no architecture expert but these temples were built close to a thousand years back or more even... feels good to know that our kings did some excellent work then..
black soapstone pillars.. they shine when i used flash.. but it was too dark for a proper pic.. so couldnt avoid the harsh glare.. but i had to take pics.. the pillar in the pic in centre has a statuette of Mohini.. apparently the statuette has proportions that are specified in the Samudrika Lakshanam.. forgot what exactly but the proportion of the length of the face to that of the body, waist size etc are all supp to be in perfect sync with that specified in texts..
a pillar of stone that rotates!! this pillar was actually capable of rotating!! sadly, due an earthquake recently, the beam on top got stuck and now it cant..
another exquisite pillar.

Downhill

thats the long climb i was talking abt.. barefoot under a scorching summer sun.. we made it tho.. only to find the doli carrying men sprinting up the hill.. total confidence basher!

Me First Post

one of those pics i'd taken last summer.. that statue is big man.. was a loong climb up the hill to see Gomateswara.. but was def worth it.
